OTTAWA, ON / ACCESSWIRE / March 3, 2021 / Across the world, millions of people have been forced to work remotely as offices have shut down amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Remote work was becoming popular even before the pandemic, giving employees more flexibility and control over their workday. Now, COVID-19 has made remote work a necessity. However, managing teams remotely presents may challenges. That's why Kenneth Loeb is going to share some tips for boosting productivity.

"Remote work is a challenge but also an opportunity," Ken Loeb points out. "When leveraged correctly, remote work may boost productivity and may also reduce office politics and other issues."

Numerous major companies, including Google and Facebook, have announced plans to continue to offer remote work after the pandemic subsides. For companies looking for the best talent, remote work may become necessary. Otherwise, talented employees may pass on your firm and work for a company that offers remote options.

"Definitely, remote work options could offer a competitive advantage for some companies, while weakening companies that don't offer it," Ken Loeb argues. "And attracting the best talent may be the most important factor for increasing productivity."

So how about increasing productivity among remote workers? Kenneth Loeb suggests starting with clear and effective communication and setting expectations.

"You need to make communication channels clear and well-documented," Ken Loeb says. "Also, set reasonable milestones and hold people to them. Of course, someone may need help with a milestone, or a project may be delayed. That's fine so long as delays are reasonable and progress is being made."

Ken Loeb Offers Daily Productivity Tips

Kenneth Loeb says one mistake some managers make with remote work is not checking in every day. To maintain productivity, however, daily check ins might be necessary.

"It can be tempting to think that check ins are not necessary with remote work, and maybe for some teams that's true," Ken Loeb says. "However, you should start with daily check-ins as they create an environment of accountability. The check in also gives you a chance to communicate with the team."

That said, while check ins are necessary, Ken Loeb warns you to keep meetings tight and focused.

"Many people don't like meetings, and especially those meetings that waste time," Kenneth Loeb says. "Write down some bullet points, practice your talk in front of the mirror, and try to convey everything quickly but clearly. Source feedback, of course, but don't twiddle your thumbs."

Streamlining tools and forms is also important. You want employees to move quickly, so don't bog them down with unnecessary paperwork.

"Sometimes, documentation and approvals are necessary," Ken Loeb says. "There's nothing wrong with that. But cut down on unnecessary red tape."

Amid remote work, a strong, caring company culture may also become more necessary, especially to keep people on track day in and day out.

"A good company culture has always been important," Ken Loeb says, "but with teams now digitally spread across the world, a good company culture may be vital for creating buy in and encouraging people to manage themselves effectively."
