PRODUCTION - 18 April 2024, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Wismar: The folding boat "Delphin 140" cost 13.10 GDR marks for water sports enthusiasts in the 1970s. Members of the "Friends of Historical Folding Boats" association from Potsdam set up various types of boats for the special exhibition "Packsack, Deadwood, Hummingbird - 70 Years of Folding Boats from Wismar" at the Technical State Museum "Phantechnikum". These transportable, durable hobby watercraft were very popular in the GDR and can still be seen in use on lakes and canals today. Between 1954 and 1990, around 77,000 folding boats were built at the Mathias Thesen shipyard (MTW) in Wismar alone. Photo: Jens Büttner/dpa
