PRODUCTION - 15 April 2024, Saxony-Anhalt, Halle (Saale): View of the entrance to a vacant GDR apartment block in the Halle-Neustadt prefabricated housing estate in Halle/Saale. The block bears the title of an architectural monument. The area around the Taubenbrunnen was listed as a monument area by the State Monuments Office last year. Individual blocks were also designated as architectural monuments. It is not only the areas in the former chemical workers' town "HaNeu" that have been awarded this status; GDR prefabricated buildings have also been placed under monument protection in other East German states. The foundation stone for Halle-Neustadt was laid 60 years ago. Photo: Hendrik Schmidt/dpa
