Juneteenth flags were placed early Monday by an anonymous donor to decorate graves of slaves buried in the Marietta City Cemetery, with all but four unmarked. It is the only slave burial ground in any major white Georgia cemetery, and contains graves of 19 slaves and freed persons of Marietta Christians from 1848-1866. Shannon Maddox, a Kennesaw woman whose great great great grandmother was a slave at age 13 in Mississippi during the 1860s, makes a picture of the slave lot.
