Mass rally demanding impeachment of Korean President Yoon, Dec 14, 2024 : People participate in a mass rally demanding the passage of an impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk-Yeol in front of the National Assembly in Seoul, South Korea. The National Assembly voted Saturday to impeach President Yoon over his botched imposition of martial law and suspended him from his duties. Yoon is accused of abusing his power to declare martial law for unconstitutional and unlawful purposes and to order military commanders to dispatch troops to the National Assembly and arrest key political figures, local media reported. The Constitutional Court will decide within 180 days whether to reinstate him or remove him from office. Pickets read,"Impeach Yoon Suk-Yeol.
