August 19, 2022 - New York, New York, USA: Tina Brown. Showing concern, support, defiance and solidarity, writers from worldwide gathered to celebrate Salman Rushdie's literary accomplishments, undaunted courage and tireless advocacy for the freedom of expression in addition to the plight of writers everywhere at the main New York Public Library steps on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. With the world famous NYPL lions nearby, Rushdie's friends and fellow members of the literary community came together on the library steps to read and share selected texts from his body of work.
