Vaquita (Phocoena sinus) mother and calf surface in the waters off San Felipe, Mexico. World's rarest marine mammal, with an estimated 8 individuals left as of June 2022. Vaquitas, a species of porpoise, become trapped and drown in gillnets fishermen set illegally for Totoaba (Chilean Sea Bass), a fish whose swim bladder is a delicacy in China and sells for thousands of dollars per pound.
