23 March 2023, Schleswig-Holstein, Lauenburg: The German government's coordinator for maritime economy and tourism, Dieter Janecek (from left) Marek and Kai Klimenko (Managing Director Hitzer Werft) and Volker Dzaak, Project Manager Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon speak during the keel laying of the "Coriolis" of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon at the Hitzler Werft in Lauenburg. The nearly 30-meter-long ship will combine coastal research and digitalization in the future and is considered an innovation platform for the development of new technologies for climate-friendly shipping. With an area of 47 square meters, it combines a wet and dry or e-lab as well as a laboratory for hydrogen research. The 13.5 million euro ship is scheduled to be handed over to the Helmholtz Center in 2024. Photo: Ulrich Perrey/dpa
