25 September 2022, Tanzania, Arusha: An African ostrich (Struthio camelus) walks beside the road in Ngorongoro Crater. The caldera of the Ngorongoro Crater covers about 260 square kilometers. Like the other giant craters, Ngorongoro is not part of the Serengeti, but was carved out as a protected area in 1956 and declared a Conservation Area because of its habitat for the Masai.
