30 November 2022, Saxony, Mulda: Sebastian Gemkow (l, CDU), Minister of Science of Saxony, Michael Kretschmer (CDU), Minister President of Saxony, plant one of the first 300 oaks on the prominent Karlshügel hill, which is currently bare due to the bark beetle. To compensate for the dramatic damage to Saxony's forests caused by drought, storms and bark beetle infestation, the Forest Foundation plans to plant around four million trees over the next few years. Together with the Free State of Saxony, it has launched the "My Tree for Saxony" campaign. Photo: Jan Woitas/dpa
