22 January 2022, Rhineland-Palatinate, Simmern: The weathervane in the shape of a robber with a gun stands on the Schinderhannes tower against the gray, rainy sky. The tower is named after the robber Johannes Bückler, called "Schinderhannes". After his capture in 1799, he was brought to Simmern and imprisoned there. In the night of August 19-20, 1799, he managed to escape from the tower, which until then had been considered escape-proof. Today, the Schinderhannes Tower serves as an event and exhibition space.
