15 September 2021, Thuringia, Erfurt: Christian Garamvölgyi from the company Glocken & Turmuhren Christian Beck from Kölleda checks the screw connections on the Gloriosa in St. Mary's Cathedral during bell maintenance. According to the diocese of Erfurt, the largest free-swinging medieval bell in the world in the central tower of Erfurt Cathedral is serviced every year. The experts inspect all mechanical parts, grease the bearings and check the chain tension of the ringing machines. This is done not only on the Gloriosa, but at the beginning of the week on all the bells on the cathedral hill. Photo: Martin Schutt/dpa-Zentralbild/dpa
