29 August 2019, Thuringia, Heldrungen: Birgit Keller (r, Die Linke), Minister of Agriculture of Thuringia, and Corinna Geißler (l), Head of the Forestry Research and Competence Centre Gotha, visit an experimental area on climate adaptation. This is about the cultivation of foreign tree species as a building block of a climate strategy. In 2012, a 2.5-hectare trial area was set up at the Thuringian Forest Office in Sondershausen to plant trees from climatic regions predicted in the climate scenarios for Thuringia's forests from 2040 and 2070 respectively.
