13 November 2024, Baden-Württemberg, Freiburg: A wind turbine to be blown up stands with explosives already installed at its location near the Schauinsland. According to the operator, the existing turbine, together with its "sister", which was blown up in September 2023, produced a total of around 99 million kilowatt hours of green electricity for the region in its 21 years of operation. The new, more powerful repowering plant will generate around 9 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year, more than twice as much as the two old plants combined. There will be no official celebrations to mark the demolition. Photo: Philipp von Ditfurth/dpa
