The medieval old town (Ville haute (upper town)) can be seen on a promontory of limestone and sandstone, which in large parts slopes vertically down to the sea. Bonifacio (Corsican Bunifaziu; Ligurian Bunifazziu or Bonifaçio) is a port town in the south of the French Mediterranean island of Corsica (Corse, Corsica) in the department of Corse-du-Sud.
