24 January 2025, Brandenburg, Groß Schönebeck: Two Przewalski's horses stand in the midday sun on a pasture in the Schorfheide Wildlife Park. Wildlife fans can rejoice. After the Schorfheide Wildlife Park closed due to the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease, operations will resume on 25.01.2025. However, under safety precautions. Visitors must be prepared for safety precautions for the time being: The petting enclosures will remain closed - the goats and sheep can only be viewed from the outside. Disinfectant mats have also been laid out at the entrance to the park. The wildlife park is home exclusively to wild animal species that are or were native to the Schorfheide, such as otter, bison, red deer, fallow deer, wild boar, mouflon, wolf, elk and Przewalski's horse. The park covers an area of around 100 hectares and has a 7-kilometre hiking trail system. Photo: Patrick Pleul/dpa
