07 June 2023, Brandenburg, Sieversdorf: Undine Gomille, artist and amateur gardener, works in her garden. Since 1984 there is always the Day of the Garden on the second Sunday in June. With the motto "Allotment gardens: diversity that inspires!" the Day of the Garden will again be celebrated nationwide on June 11, 2023. Traditionally, each year one of the 20 state associations organized in the Bundesverband Deutscher Gartenfreunde e. V. (BDG) takes over the patronage for this day. There are approximately 902,000 hobby gardeners are organized under the roof of the Federal association of German garden friends and its members. Around 5 million people use an allotment garden.
