31 March 2023, Saxony-Anhalt, Ramstedt: Judi Oppermann from Nabu places a toad in the foliage of a forest in the morning. The amphibian migration has reached its peak in Saxony-Anhalt. The mild and humid nights are currently ideal and the animals are making their way to their spawning grounds. Conservationists are therefore taking down the toad fences in the morning. The barriers are intended to prevent the animals from being driven to death on the surrounding roads. Depending on the species, the amphibian migration can extend into May.
