31 January 2023, Hamburg: A drone hangs in a net during the project presentation of the civil defense system against drones ("Falke") on the grounds of the Bundeswehr University. The defense drone is capable of capturing illegally operating small aircraft with a net and bringing them to the ground in a controlled manner. The system is intended primarily to protect airports. Researchers at the University of the German Armed Forces developed the defense drone in cooperation with several technical companies and the German Federal Police. German air traffic control and Lufthansa are also involved. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Transport. Photo: Marcus Brandt/dpa
