A firefighting operation at the EU Commission on the floor of President von der Leyen caused a stir on Friday. There had been an incident on the 13th floor that required the intervention of emergency services, said a spokesman for the authority in Brussels. The floor had been evacuated, he said. Von der Leyen, who has her offices on the 13th floor, and everyone else was fine. The reason for the operation was an envelope containing suspicious white powder, the Belga news agency reported, citing the fire department.
