PRODUCTION - 24 April 2024, Saxony-Anhalt, Magdeburg: A European pond turtle swims through its biotope in the inner courtyard of the Museum für Naturkunde Magdeburg. The biotope is part of the "Natureum" which opens on April 25, 2024. School classes and youth groups will then be able to use the open-air laboratory to observe and research living animals in various biotopes or uncover a model of a mammoth. By keeping and breeding fire salamanders, the museum is participating in the "Citizen Conservation" project. The aim of the project is to create a reserve for reintroduction projects by keeping red-listed species. Photo: Klaus-Dietmar Gabbert/dpa
