03 December 2021, Hessen, Wiesbaden: A poster reading "Aufklärung" (clarification) has been placed on a tree in front of the Hessian parliament and the illuminated plenary hall during a vigil for the victims of the racist attack in Hanau in 2020. Relatives of victims of the attack will also be heard as witnesses at the Hanau inquiry committee of the Hessian state parliament. The focus of the committee of inquiry is a possible failure of the authorities before, during and after the night of the crime on 19 February 2020. 43-year-old German Tobias R. had murdered nine people in Hanau for racist motives, presumably he then shot his mother and himself.
