D-DAY 79TH ANNIVERSARY D-DAY VETERAN RICHARD ALDRED, 98 RICHARD ALDRED Leg d�on Royal Armoured Corps, C Squadron 5 th Inniskilling �ragoon Guards under the command of Major John Ward-Harrison, Landed at Arromanches on the 12 th July, as a Cromwell Tank Driver Mechanic. On the 26 th August his tank was destroyed in actions in Bourneville-Sainte- Croix, and he spent some time sheltering by the cross in the town. As he didn� have a tank, he was then transported in a Ford Truck until he was reallocated to a replacement tank during the push through Belgium. Normandy, France. Picture taken 5th June 2023
