29 April 2024, Brandenburg, Senftenberg: The ADAC rescue helicopter "Christoph Brandenburg", an Airbus Helicopters EC 145, is approaching the Senftenberg station. The ADAC rescue helicopter "Christoph 33" is in the foreground. For 30 years now, the non-profit ADAC Luftrettung has been operating the intensive care transport helicopter (ITH) of the state of Brandenburg "Christoph Brandenburg" at the Senftenberg base. Together with the ADAC rescue helicopter "Christoph 33", which has also been stationed there since 1991, it brings rapid assistance from the air to people in medical emergencies. To mark this anniversary, ADAC Luftrettung is hosting an open day in Senftenberg on May 4. With around 60 employees, Senftenberg is the largest ADAC Luftrettung station in Germany and one of the few with two helicopters. By 2011, ADAC Luftrettung had invested a total of 1.6 million euros on behalf of the state in the expansion and modernization of the station, which houses not only the operations center for the helicopters but also state-of-the-art rooms to accommodate the crews. The crews from Senftenberg have completed around 73,000 missions to date. "Christoph Brandenburg" has flown around 28,000, around 1,000 of them in 2023. Photo: Patrick Pleul/dpa/ZB
