PRODUCTION - 18 April 2024, Saxony-Anhalt, Halberstadt: View of a measuring device for determining moisture inflow on a tax orchard near Halberstadt. In collaboration with the German Weather Service, scientists from the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research are investigating the influence of the climate on an orchard. Metrological devices were installed on 5 apple trees to measure, among other things, the inflow of moisture to the trunk and growth. Some of the trees are watered using drip irrigation, while the others are watered manually and exclusively by the prevailing rainfall.
