16 April 2024, Lower Saxony, Oldenburg: The accused employee of a subcontractor sits in the Weser-Ems-Halle used by the Oldenburg Regional Court before the start of the trial. The trial aims to shed light on the scandal surrounding the expensive repair of the naval sail training ship "Gorch Fock". Six defendants have to answer for their actions in the corruption proceedings, including two former board members of the Elsflether Werft shipyard. The Elsfleth shipyard had been commissioned to repair the "Gorch Fock", among other things. According to the investigators, the costs had risen from 9.6 million euros to 135 million euros.
