Worcester, Massachusetts USA October 15, 2008 File Photo: On a Wednesday evening, volunteers for the Barack Obama for president campaign work inside a congressional campaign office rented by Democratic Congressman Jim McGovern, here in this second largest city in Massachusetts. These volunteers coordinated the activities other volunteers contributing their time to the Obama campaign. This office is not an Obama field office in the true sense of the word since the Obama campaign is not paying for it and there are no campaign staff persons in attendance. But the volunteers do stay in touch with the actual campaign and follow directives issued by the campaign. The woman at right, Ann Marie Shea of Worcester, is telephoning volunteers to schedule their activities. She was asked to explain her support of Obama and said, "He has the kind of mind that can handle the complex issues of the office." The presidential election would happen in twenty days.
