Nobel laureate in economics and Columbia University professor Joseph Stiglitz speaks during an interview at the headquarters of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, US, 13 October 2022. The Colombian Minister of Finance Jose Antonio Ocampo defended this Thursday his proposal to introduce a surcharge on windfall profits from oil and coal companies, as well as his government's commitment to renewable energies, because "they generate more employment" . "In addition to generating growth, climate policies are pro-employment, since renewable (energy) create more jobs than fossil fuels," the minister assured in an interview with EFE together with the Nobel Prize in Economics and Columbia University professor Joseph Stiglitz, before participating both in a debate on this fiscal reform and that of Chile.
