The Majestic, originally known as the Tien Yien Moh Toi Theatre, was built in 1927 by Eu Tong Sen, a tin mining and rubber businessman. The theatre was designed by Swan and Maclaren, an architectural firm that also designed the famous Raffles Hotel.
