Part of a Suzhou style banquet to eat with the steamed hairy crabs (not in the picture). The fruit in the middle is a plate of crunchingly fresh dates. In Shanghainese cuisine, steamed hairy crabs are a seasonal delicacy to be savoured in autumn and winter, starting around late September.
