Jan. 30, 2024. Boston, MA. The Massachusetts Youth Climate Coalition advocated for a group of climate justice bills during a rally outside of the Massachusetts State House. Members of the group Our Climate Massachusetts are adamant about sounding the alarm on this impending crisis and acting up before it is too late. Students gathered on the steps of the State House demanding transparency from lawmakers about how they’re voting on several key climate bills. They are also met with legislators to try to persuade them to vote favorably on those bills. The bills are: youth-written, educator-supported bill on Interdisciplinary Climate Justice Education an Environmental Justice bill to improve Air Quality in the most pollution impacted communities, a Zero Carbon Renovation Fund to make buildings more energy efficient a “Polluter Pay” Climate Superfund to charge the top 100 corporate polluters for the pollution their products release to spend on climate adaptation reform of the House Rules to make Committees more transparent. 2024 Marilyn Humphries
