This April 2-8, golfers will gather in Augusta, Georgia for the 71 st Masters Tournament.
At Augusta National in 1934, Bob Jones and Clifford Roberts organized the first golf event that later would be called the Masters Tournament. Since then, Augusta’s rolling greens have launched dreams for some golfers and nightmares for others. The Masters Tournament has been particularly kind to golf legend Jack Nicklaus who holds the record for winning the most titles, six, and for being the oldest player to win the Masters. Meanwhile, golf great Greg Norman’s storied near misses at the Masters serve as testimony both to Augusta’s challenging course and to the drama that makes the Masters Tournament so special.
